River Dipping in Beckenham Place Park

I've been river walking today.  The lovely Jordan from Lewisham council Waterlink Way Project took me,  and I am now qualified to take people up the river in thigh-length waders!  I can't say my life is boring.  We did some kick-sampling and found lots of freshwater shrimps, leeches, mites, water louse (or water slaters or water hoglouse - like wood bobs they have many names).  We also found sticklebacks, snails and bizarrely for this time of year mayfly nymphs and damselfly nymphs.

Also common hogweed growing in Ladywell Fields....flowering away happily in mid October.  It's been a funny old Autumn, so far.
